Mentality Nail Polish Warning

So, just to make sure everyone is aware of the situation I decided to write a small blog to inform anyone who wasn’t aware of the situation with Mentality Nail Polish yet. Some of their polishes are causing what they call “sensitivity” to their customers nails. Their nails are lifting completely off the nail beds, are painful and discolored as you can see in the pic below by Diane.

As I was getting ready to write the blog, I came across Ashley’s Blog (Ashleyispolishaddicted) and it is so thorough amd informative that I decided to link her blog here so that you guys can go ahead and read her blog on Mentality and the whole issue that has happened.

It is an on going issue, as of yesterday (8/27/15), clearly Mentality has gotten scared and is finally doing something about the situation (see FB post here). After wanting to brush it off and receiving massive backlash from their customers, they are finally sending the Arminex base in question to be tested. They are also going forward with a class action lawsuit and are recalling all their polishes from April 2014 – end of June 2015 with the last ingredient Citric Acid on their label as well as gloss labels, 5 free labels, or screen printed bottles.

In my honest opinion, I don’t believe the bottles should be returned. You should keep them for your proof of purchase. It seams like after the big blow out, they have decided to pursue things legally to see if it benefits them financially. Clearly their customers were not their priority as they couldn’t be bothered to email their customers of the issue when it first started, but can now provide a client list to their lawyer.

At this point it feels like they are doing damage control so that they aren’t hit with any lawsuit themselves. This message was the first professional post I have seen from them. As you will see in Ashley’s Blog, the owners running Mentality were quite rude and unprofessional. The nail community is quite large and clearly very willing to stand up to Mentalities abuse in handling this situation.

I do want to end things with reminding people that one bad apple does not mean that every indie maker out there will behave the same. I have purchased plenty of indies myself to know that when I have an issue they are always willing to help. A business is a business no matter what the size is, and the most important thing to remember is that your customers come first because they are what makes your business. I am very happy to be part of this community that so clearly sticks together.

Hope that everyone that was unfortunate enough to use their polish has a speedy and quick recovery.
